After personal experience of counselling and hypnotherapy, I decided to learn psychotherapeutic methods in order to help others and gained my Psychology and Hypnotherapy qualification with the prestigious School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy at Anglia Ruskin in Chelmsford. Following on from this I set up my practice and have since been counselling and coaching adults since July 2004 and counselling children since January 2012.

I hold a Diploma in Play and Creative Arts Therapy which means that I can work with children individually and in groups using play and the creative arts as a therapeutic medium; meeting them at their level using mediums that they are familiar with.

During my time working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services I have trained in Systemic therapy which has extended my skills to offering therapy to couples and families.

As a Psychological Therapist specialising in play therapy and systemic therapy, I have built a solid base of experience in working therapeutically long term and short term with adults and children. This range of experience has enabled me to create and deliver bespoke training for foster carers and schools, as well as offer informal team training. I bring an array of skills and diversity with an integrative knowledge of various adult/child/family mental health interventions and psychotherapy including systemic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy models.

My background as a businesswoman and experience working in large organisations has provided me with strong organisational capabilities, the ability to manage my time and prioritise a varied workload, as well as negotiate the various levels of the hierarchical system. These key skills enabled effective management of caseloads in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and communicate effectively within a multi-agency network either in person or via written communication. Working in partnership with parents/teachers/social workers and other organisations has enabled me to develop flexible and appropriate ways of working with families and multi-agencies.
