Play Therapy is the ideal therapy when working with children.
It is a child's natural medium of self expression and enables them to make sense of the world around them.
It can bring about a sense of calm resulting in a child that is not acting out their emotions by lashing out at you, or their siblings.

My autisic son age 11 was very angry, expressing hatred and loathing at myself. Now our relationship as mother and son has improved and he wants to spend time with me. Although my son gives little verbal feedback about his school day he did talk about seeing Jackie. He was very thoughtful about selecting the right ending thank you gift which he usually would not have been interested in. Plus he also wanted to take her in a portion of chips on his last session! Which illustrates to me she had achieved great things with him.

Dallas lacked self-esteem and was anxious which resulted in an aggressive demeanour making it difficult to make friends. He also had an inability to relax and was constantly fidgeting. During Play Therapy he gained confidence and was better able to express his own thoughts and feelings, being more relaxed. He has developed friendships in clubs he has joined, and has several close friends. Formerly a recluse, he now goes across the green to join the groups of children who gather there and children come to our house to seek him out. I believe that the Play Therapy has been a success and we are likely to gain a more confident teenager, well equipped to move towards adult life and has skills which will enable him to achieve in other more academic activities.
