My son was anxious and lacked any self-esteem. This resulted in an aggressive exterior which in turn caused him to find it difficult to make and retain friends. During the time of the play therapy he seemed to gain confidence and was better able to express his own thoughts and feelings.  Six months post Play Therapy he continues to blossom and has developed friendships in different clubs, and has several close friends. Some parents have said that their own children seek A’s friendship and their boys are disappointed when he has left one club to join another. Formerly a recluse, he has recently started going across the green for hours at a time to join the children there and they often come to our house to see if he is going out.  In conclusion I believe that the play therapy has been a great success and we are likely to gain a more confident and self-assured teenager, who will be well equipped to move towards adult life.  He has gained skills which will enable him to achieve in other more academic activities.

My autisic son age 11 was very angry, expressing hatred and loathing at myself. Now our relationship as mother and son has improved and he wants to spend time with me. Although my son gives little verbal feedback about his school day he did talk about seeing Jackie.  He was very thoughtful about selecting the right ending thank you gift which he usually would not have been interested in. Plus he also wanted to take her in a portion of chips on his last session! Which illustrates to me she had achieved great things with him.

A happy child is much more likely to learn and perform well academically.

Unhappy children tend to be disruptive, are uncooperative and generally anti-social, either by being withdrawn, or fighting with other children.

Play Therapy can bring about a sense of calm resulting in a child that is not acting out their emotions by being disruptive in class, or lashing out at their classmates.
